Canines Want Toys
Carry
Shih-Tzu Farrah all the time first carries a brand new toy round to point out it off. The carrying intuition is among the first behaviors pet mother and father observe, and one of many best to elucidate. Most blatant is solely modal: the canine needs to play with the toy someplace else. However carrying a toy can point out pleasure, set off the burying intuition (ever discovered you canine’s cache of toys underneath the couch?), or simply be an indication that they just like the toy a lot they need it all the time close by.
Squeak
Butters, a rescue beagle, adores his squeaky toys! Canines understand toys in the identical approach that wolves understand prey: they like toys which are tender, simply manipulable toys that may be chewed and/or make a noise, and that is what makes for a favourite. Significantly, searching canine get pleasure from squeaky toys as a result of they sound like prey after they pounce and chew on them. That squeaker might be crucial a part of the toy out of your canine’s perspective, and it actually makes for hours and hours of enjoyable to destroy the toy enough to take away the squeaker. Simply be sure that to keep watch over him and take the squeaker away earlier than it is swallowed.
Cuddle
Farrah’s mother and father assume it is cute when she cuddles and snoozes along with her toys, and it is extra than simply being cuter than a button. She might want it to be secure and conscious of it whereas nonetheless zoning out and resting; she usually awakes and performs instantly; and it appeals to her sense of maternity in addition to offering a way of companionship (which is extra to do with you than the toy; see “Bond”).
Bond
Canines are social creatures, change into extra excited once we’re excited, and extra whenever you take part. Taking part in along with your canine utilizing toys can change the plaything’s price and the canine’s curiosity in it. In the end, a toy can tackle a completely new that means when it turns into the main target of interplay between you and your canine. On this approach a toy turns into a approach of getting enjoyable — with you!

Why Glory To Canine Exists
Farrah is a Shih-Tzu with sturdy opinions about toys. As her homeowners and pet retailer homeowners, we bought lots of of goDog Checkers Chickens — a beloved plush toy made with the identical pineapple weave cloth you see right here. Canines liked them. However they have been constructed for greater canine, and Farrah — like most small canine who play gently — acquired misplaced inside them.
We hunted excessive and low for a toy line sized for small canine who play the best way Farrah performs: carrying a brand new toy room to room like a prize, dropping it at your ft, squeaking it at you till you interact, then curling up with it on the finish of the day. That’s what Barnyard is. Six characters, one philosophy: toys aren’t simply leisure. They’re the way you present your canine you’re keen on them — and the way they present you proper again.
Glory To Canine is made for that second.
